Care quality improvement (CQI) is a continuous, systematic approach to improve patients outcomes by identifying gaps in diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. Benchmarking is an important component of CQI, it involves comparing indicators of practice amongst centres and identifying areas for improvement.
The SDMregistries platform provides an opportunity to collect real world information on a wide range of conditions affecting sex development and can be used as a tool to develop clinical benchmarks in care and facilitate QI strategies.
I-CAH QI projects
Data that have been collected as part of recent projects (Acute Adrenal Insufficiency Related Adverse Events in CAH (AE-CAH) and Anthropometric Benchmarks of Care in CAH (ABC-CAH) have been used to produce benchmarking reports. Centres that participate in I-CAH are provided with a generic benchmarking report and centres that participated in AE-CAH and/or ABC-CAH are also provided with an individualised centre-specific report. These data provide centres with a perspective on their clinical care compared to other centres and may be useful for facilitating improvements in clinical care at a local level as well as internationally.
